It is a mystery because no man understands you (except those who have the gift of interpretation of tongues) even satan and his demons don't understand what you say, even yourself don't understand what you're saying,(except you have the gift of interpretation of tongues)... Only God understands because He is the author of the heavenly language.
When you pray in tongues, you cut off demons, men and satan from your conversation with God.
The gift of tongues is no earthly language. it is an utterance from the Holy Spirit. A lot of persons think that the gift of tongues is only the ability to translate and speak in various earthly languages, some persons say that those speaking in tongues are blabbering because they don't understand what such persons are saying, that is a wrong mindset. (It is an encrypted language between you and God)
When I first got the gift of tongues, satan made me have doubts, he kept telling me that I was saying nonsense. On a particular day, I was ministering deliverance on a person who was heavily demonized, I spoke in understanding to the demon, and the demon was acting tough, I heard a voice on the inside saying, "Speak in tongues" and as soon as I spoke in tongues, the demon screamed out, begging me to stop, the demon was pleading to leave the body of the person hosting it, saying the fire is too much, from that very day, I never doubted this gift anymore.
